ECO Home Chicago - Your Green Guide to Better Living

Emily Berlinghof

EcoHome Chicago President

My interest in green homes has been the result of a lifelong passion for interior design, architecture and the surrounding landscapes.  Beautiful homes excite me!  I am also all about efficiency and believe whole-heartedly that a home that is in-efficient, un-healthy and high maintenance is not worth building, no matter how gorgeous is may appear.

EcoHome Chicago strives to bring both of these worlds together - beautiful homes that are efficient and earth-friendly.  I believe that the phrase "beautiful green homes" is not an oxymoron, but rather a goal we should all be striving for.

A bit about me ...

After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in textiles science, I worked as a Materials Resource Specialist for Powell/Kleinschmidt, an interior architecture firm in Chicago, specifying fabrics, finishes and fixtures for all of their projects.  After completing my MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, I combined my love for interior design with business at OSI, a division of GF Furniture, as the Director of Marketing and New Product Development.

I am currently a team member of the Chicago Green Homes Program - the city's certification program for renovated and new residences. I am also a member of the Chicago Center for Green Technology's Material Review Committee - researching and placing products in the Center's invaluable resource center, used by residents, designers and builders looking for "green" products.

I am a LEED, Green Associate and Re-Green certified by the joint USGBC and ASID program.

I look forward to working with you!
